Time to reborn, 2024, collage
This work is inspired by the action of starting a new path every season, but in my case fall is the biggest starting point, because it’s when I was born. Being reborn requires us to burn the past versions of ourselves that don’t serve us anymore. By facing the challenges of change we are able to regenerate like a phoenix and be born again.
About the artist
Salome Jokhadze is a Georgian artist currently enrolled in the MA programme of the Institute Art Gender Nature HGK FHNW in Basel. She works with installation and drawing but also sculptural objects. Her works create a universe in between a fairytale fantasy and a strange technological metaverse where we feel safe. She unites elements of folk culture, youth culture, myths with spatial and creature-like inventions aimed to awake the naive elements that are still active in our culture.
This naïveté acts also as a good energy reminding us that trust, and a sense of softness, is absolutely necessary in a world without violent characters and violent actions. Her work could be described as the production of a handmade alternative reality where our minds could rest and our spirits could dream.
