The president of the European Innovation Council (EIC), Michiel Scheffer, and the innovation manager of the Steinbeis European Center, Sebastian Große-Puppendahl, visited the Freiburg Innovation Center FRIZ on Monday 11 March 2024.
The European Innovation Council drives scientific and technological developments and promotes innovative start-ups and projects throughout Europe. The aim of the visit was to exchange ideas with the EIC-funded start-ups ionysis, Dermagnostix, Biofluidix, Actome and Endress+Hauser BioSense and to shed light on their progress.
The companies demonstrated the wide range of innovative technologies that have emerged from the institutes over the past 20 years. Endress+Hauser BioSense, a joint venture founded with Hahn-Schickard in 2021, for example, develops devices and processes for fast molecular analysis.
The aim is to transfer the technology from medical diagnostics to industrial process and laboratory automation. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to present ourselves as an innovative company and to demonstrate the importance of close exchange at the location,” said Nicholas Krohn, managing director of Endress+Hauser BioSense.
At the Freiburg Innovation Center FRIZ, several Endress+Hauser teams from different disciplines are working on the development of new sensor technologies and software solutions. Approximately 70 employees work closely together and are embedded in an innovative environment of research institutes, start-ups and other companies.
Further information can be found on the Hahn-Schickard website.
